A need

Banks, industries, major selling companies, register offices, public bureaus. It can be frightening to think about the amount of documents an institution keeps throughout its history. There are single processes that can generate tons in paper.

And what is all this for? For enabling access, at any given time, to the records of these events. And being able to cross references, compare them, aiding present decision making.

But the room required by these tons of paper end up turning your space in a dead file, for all purposes. A place that demands true effort just to uncover one simple information. This requires time, money and man power that are, eventually, not worthy in face of the true practical value of the information. Even when this information is vital.

One opportunity 

In times of virtual economy and information, digital filing can rationalize the managing of large amounts of documents, and as so, making the search of content even better.

However, as everything in the digital universe, the search engines are still being developed. A scanned document becomes an image: a closed file, as the old microfilm. And even a digital file needs to be categorized by some random system. The most usual is the key-words.

But the search for key words still has a significant amount of interpretation. The person that catalogues the files must order them, by date, title or other more refined criteria. Whomever does the research has to guess the criteria used. And many times, the reference to a given document is not precise.

Wouldn't it be ideal to just find a document through any word or sentence in it? As if it was a text and not an image?
